Definite Image Productions was founded by Itsik Romano in 2005 as a production house, serving clients with graphic design, print media and video production solutions. The studio has since produced marketing essentials for corporations, organizations, and individuals by providing services such as website design, promotional print media advertisements, and corporate video presentations.

The studio offers complete solutions to facilitate the process of a creating a marketing campaign by utilizing its creative and accessible resources under a single corporation, leaving the client to deal with one and only company for all their visual media needs.

How did I get here?

I followed my passion. I became a student of  Film Animation at Concordia University (later named the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema) and at 23 landed the coveted spot as a night shift employee at Astral 2D Animation Department, a start-up division of the media giant Astral Communications.

I was hungry. I was soon promoted to the Animation Inspection department, where my particular skills were applied toward inspecting TV shows such as Caillou, Paddington Bear, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, and my personal favourite at the time - Bob Moran. Moved to a managerial position, I had the privilege of working closely with studios such as Cinar, CineMaria (MTV's The Many Deaths of Norman Spittal), AlphaFilm, and even met with some higher-ups at Dreamworks!

I had connections. Thanks to a recommendation from my friend at Astral, Ria Westaway, (née Samsonenko), a Los Angeles based animation studio, USAnimation, hired me to join their team of special effects editors on the Carsey-Werner prime time production God, the Devil, and Bob. In 1999.

I boomeranged. In 2000, I was nominated by Normand Gauthier, (previously a production manager at Astral Tech), and consequently hired by the National Film Board of Canada. Joining the production team of TaleSpinners, a collection of short animated films for children produced by Tamara Lynch. We pioneered the digital imaging department at the National Film Board of Canada which by itself was a dream come true and opened the doors to new creative pursuits.

I was an explorer: That contract ended, a second career in music began, I recorded and performed throughout the Greater Montreal area under the name of OrgypOp, and also found my way into new territory. I began to freelance in digital media, including building basic websites and designing brochures and business cards and established invaluable connections with industry leaders with whom I still collaborate (still making important connections!) today.

Breakthrough: In 2003 I worked on a large scale project involving mixed media such as old painting to old prints, and animating sequences with live action footage of characters mimicking the pioneers of the United State of America. I was hired by GSM Design Studio on a Multimedia Project for the Historical Society of Washington DC called Washington Stories. My involvement was as an assistant to Normand Gauthier, to animate and digitize many of the animation elements that were provided in order to create the illusion of historical events that comes to life through art work. Can I leave this out?

My ah-ha moment: In 2005, I worked with Sheldon Cohen as his digital specialist on the BRAVO sponsored production animated short The Three Wishes. I admired Sheldon’s animation and design style work since I was a child. Working with him at that time was a highlight both for my career and because my first child was born during that time.

A Definite Image is born: Gradually, I began to establish a revolving door of regular contracts with several clients in need of corporate identity, advertisement, multimedia applications, and websites. I am loving what I do, seeing the results in client satisfaction and brand success, I incorporated my company, Definite Image.

I’m here to serve, with my team: One stop media shopping, solid planning, reliable customer service, delivered on time and with a smile, all this, under one roof!
